While working at Diamond + Schmitt Architects, Brad Hindson oversaw the design of the XX graphic into the electric shade controls for the southern facing curtain wall.  The double X patten - over 15 mintutes - fades in to be displayed temporarily before transitioning to full shade to protect the occupants from the mid day solar gains.  The XX pattern pulls from the large visible X braces themed throughout the building.
