A series of sculptural lighting fixtures inspired by and integrated into Santiago Calatrava's surrounding architecture.

Summary

Gust is a series of 60 internally-illuminated hanging sculptures designed to illuminate Brookfield Place—literally and conceptually—for the festive season along with Frost, its companion piece. The work is inspired by Santiago Calatrava’s architecture of the surrounding Galleria, the geometry of a single snowflake, and snow falling through a gentle breeze.

Design Concept

As with Frost, Gust takes uses the iconic “y”-shaped structural members of the Allen Lambert Galleria as the starting point of its design. The original architecture is inspired by fractal patterns in nature. The Snowfall series adapts this form, repeating and rotating it, to create a new crystalline "snowflake" structure.
